Our Milestones

2008 – Renewing Life established its tax exempted status, non-profit and partnered with the San Diego Food Bank for our food pantry program.

2009 – Renewing Life established a partnership with South Bay Community Services to transport seniors at the Chula Vista Town Center Manor

2012 and 2013 – Received grant funding from SANDAG to continue its transportation program for seniors with expansion to Harvest Ridge senior apartments (90 units senior apartments affiliated with South Bay Community Services).

2014 – Renewing Life added domestic violence shelter and transitional housing residents to its transportation program

2014-2015 – Implemented the Congregational Tower transportation program (year 1 grant program)

2015-2016 - Implemented Year 2 Congregational Tower transportation program.

2016-2017 - Implemented Year 3 Congregational Tower transportation program. 

2017-Awarded  grant funding from Sandag for the years 2017 and 2018.

Our Service

No-Cost transportation to low income seniors and individuals with disabilities living at our service sites in the South Bay. Sites served include Congregational Towers, Harvest Ridge, Towne Centre Manor and the DV shelter South Bay.

Transportation for domestic violence shelter families and transitional housing residents to support their safety and wellness plan.

We are also doing FACT (http://www.factsd.org/) drives serving the general public.

Our Accomplishments (Year 3 October 2016 through December 2016)

Transportation/Drives: One Thousand Eighty Six (1,086) completed one-way drives to medical appointments, grocery store, personal needs, other individual appointments for seniors and disable individuals; Service Sites: Congregational Tower, Harvest Ridge Senior Apartments, Town Centre Senior Apartments and DV shelter (South Bay Community Services program); Weekly Shuttle Drives for grocery shopping to Wal-Mart, Seafood City, Albertsons and Sprouts

Added Vehicles to Transportation: FACT vans added two (2) to fleet for transportation services; FACT vans assigned to Renewing Life to support FACT program and community drives

Senior Life: LiveStrongEat Smart planned for Congregational Tower seniors. The workshop funded by the U.S. Agriculture Department and supported by Renewing Life; Lina is the instructor for Live Strong Eat Smart program to increase fruit and vegetable daily usage among seniors and increase exercise. Workshop to be held weekly for one hour at Congregational Tower; Live Strong Eat Smart workshops planned with Congregational Tower social service staff Malcolm Hussein and several resident leaders to recruit participants and help with workshop participation; Live Strong Eat Smart workshops planed for January 2017 (6 weeks program); Inter-Generational (senior and youth) event planning for spring 2017. Renewing Life will lead the planning to secure youth participation in a craft type activity in Congregational Tower community room
